I recently learned about a concept new to me: Blending work and life - what about that? What a great insight and advice for our future work. A blend of creator economies and community-driven learning is what already drives the OpenGuitar ecosystem and Alas DAO. So let's dive into some of the things that happened since the last bulletin:
💝 Alas! It's that time in the year again!
We are approaching a season of giving and as we all know, gifts do not need to be monetary. Coordinape circles allow us to collectively reward Alas DAO members and OpenGuitar contributors. We therefore decided to start experimenting with reward systems for decentralized collaboration. Our first Coordinape-round will run from 2021 - Nov 21 to Nov 28 and will repeat for 5 epochs of 7 days each that repeat on Sundays. Time to GIVE on Coordinape and show your appreciation for your fellow workers in Alas DAO.
🐣 OpenGuitar Labs - a space to hack and learn
The OpenGuitar Lab is moving! We are very happy to move into our own small place in the building of Technische Sammlungen - a museum in Dresden that also hosts the DLR_SchoolLab TU Dresden. Our CNC cutting machine and a first batch of tools already moved from Berlin to Dresden. We already kicked-off the lab with a workshop in November. More workshops will be coming soon.
The instrument building process is designed as an engaging and creative activity, which teaches a broad spectrum of skills, from 3D design and hands-on woodworking to computer aided manufacturing (CAM), sensor robotics and computer programming with a focus on the elemental math behind digital signal processing.
📽️ Concert Invitation: "Sustain Trees and Minds"
You are cordially invited to listen to the OpenGuitar live at the short film festival Dresden. Animated short films will be accompanied by music played on the Open Guitar performed by Fernando Bravo. The concert will be guided by the theme "Sustain Trees and Minds".
When: 21.12.2020, 20:00 – 22:00
Where: to be confirmed.
The event will be streamed via Zoom / Youtube.
🌊 Superfluid Payment Channels
We follow-up our METABUIDL work on payment channels for the OpenGuitar ecosystem with our participation in the DAOglobal hackathon.
Superfluid enables easy subscription models between artists, educators, workshop participants and live audiences.
Next on superfluid are features never seen before to improve DAO coordination and allocating budgets to working groups. This is a novel approach to use NFTs. These NFTs may be edited, split and merged based on budgeting decisions made by the DAO.
Watch the technical demo for the DAOglobal hackathon and get as excited as we are about superfluid payment channels.
💫 Token Engineering Research
Token Engineering is a crypto-native new research field that combines research from Political Science, Behavioral Economics, Mechanism Design and Data Analytics. In November 2021 TE Academy kicked-off the community research initiative on Rewards Systems for DAOs.
Together with over 40 other researchers we joined the program to explore how we can grow our ecosystem by compensating members for their contributions, grant decision-making power and organize co-ownership using methods from the Token Engineering toolkit: cadCAD, Token Spice and the Commons Stack.

🏰 Ethereum Name Service (ENS) call for DAO delegates
ENS has always been an open public utility that belongs to the community. The core components of ENS are decentralized. Now ENS is taking the next step by decentralizing the governance structures and to pass ENS governance over to the community. In order to do that, ENS requested community members to nominate themselves as ENS governance delegates.
We at Alas DAO are seeking for ways to take responsibility for the tools we create and therefore put forward our proposal to help building the number assignment clearinghouse of the Web3. The proposed ENS Constitution is a set of rules and guidelines for the ENS community on how ENS should be governed and was already voted through by the ENS delegates as one of the first step in the process.
We are curious to take the next steps with you. Please choose your ENS delegate.
💖 Thank you
And that covers the second Alas DAO Bulletin. We are grateful for your continuous support. To stay up-to-date please subscribe.
